Increase Website Traffic Using Proper Anchor Text

25 June 2008 38 views One Comment

If you have a website, you know that in order to make more money you must increase website traffic. The best way to do this is to achieve higher search engine rankings. OK, this may be easier said than done, but with a little patience and the proper methods, it's really not that hard at all. Simply add valuable content to your site and build links on other sites that point back to that content. Repeat this over and over and your site will begin to climb up the rankings and generate more website traffic.

Since backlinks are an important part of how the search engines rank a website, it is important to use them properly. First, you need to learn about anchor text. Anchor text is the text that is used to link back to your site. Many people will place a link back to their sites using the words "click here". This adds no value to your link as the anchor text tells Google or Yahoo that your site is about "click here". However, if your site is about fuzzy dice and you use the words "fuzzy dice" as anchor text, then the search engines will know your site is about fuzzy dice. Simple steps like this can increase the value of your backlinks and increase website traffic.
